LAST ACTS: Discovering Possibility and Opportunity at the End of Life
David J. Casarett, MD, Author, Noted Researcher,
University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine
Friday, April 9th, 2010
1:30 pm until 4:00 pm
In Last Acts, Dr. David Casarett explores many questions as he considers how we use our time when that time is limited. In the process, he shares the compelling stories of many of the patients he's cared for in 10 years as a hospice and palliative care physician. Last Acts draws on the author's clinical experiences to help patients make the most of the time that they have. It will also help families and loved ones understand why patients sometimes make choices that can seem baffling and perplexing.
At the completion of Dr. Casarett's seminar, participants will be able to:
♦Identify "last acts" that are important to people at the end of life;
♦Describe ways that hospice and palliative care professionals can assist people with their chosen last acts/important goals at the end of life;
♦Discuss the potential for growth and new possibilities for growth and new possibilities inherent in the end-of-life experience.
